I have been beleaguering all of my friends and family about the issue of whether or not I should invest in graduate school. In one moment it seems like a natural progression, a golden opportunity, an ideal way to evolve intellectually in these less-than-ideal times. Plus, it is good to be in a haven of smart people, many of whom care about things other than sex and money, which is a rarity in the dense area of Manhattan. When I emailed my thesis adviser about my dilemma (mixed in with an apology for my lack of a finished draft), he responded with refreshing succinctness:
"too soon to flip out. save that for middle age, since it will happen anyway."
